This season though has been somewhat disappointing to me. Last season the celebrities seemed to check their egos at the door. Yes they knew it was a competition but the goal was to do their best, however it worked out. They seemed to be having fun.
This season, however, some of the egos are huge and distracting. Last season the judges and audience were voting on different dances so they changed it where everyone is voting on the same dance and rather than wait a week to find out who is eliminated, you find out the next night. On the second night, they show some backstage happenings and comments by the contestants.
Tatum took a firm stand and said she would be the winner because she was the best out there. But when it came to the bottom two contestants for elimination last night, it was P. Miller and Tatum O'Neal with the two lowest scores. Personally I would have been happy if they'd both been eliminated but they only eliminate one at a time.
P. Miller has been totally disrespectful to the judges, his partner and the audience. He refuses to wear ballroom dance shoes, despite instruction from the judges and requests from his partner but he goes out each time and talks about doing this for Katrina victims, which I'm sure is why he's pulling in the call-in votes. Thing is, nothing has been mentioned about any charities benefiting from this competition.
Anyway, Tatum was eliminated last night and when she went to have her final comments with the hosts she whined "But I'm an actress!" Um, Tatum hon, none of the celebrities are dancers - they all are learning to dance, just like you were.
Next week, I'm hoping for a P elimination.

OMG, Lucy!
Sigh. I never watched it last season, but I am now totally hooked on yet another reality tv show! I completely agree with your assessment. P Miller has been awful. So unenthusiastic. I realize he had to step in for his son (Little Romeo or Little Bow Wow or whatever his name is) at the last minute, but really. I feel so sorry for his partner.
I was hoping either he or Tatum got knocked out. Her attitude was sour grapes. Instead of taking the judges' comments graciously (Like Lisa R did) she made excuses. "I'm nervous", "I'm an actress not a dancer". Yuck!
I'm very impressed by the female wrestler. She's so graceful and looks great out there. So does Giselle Fernandez. And George Hamilton totally cracks me up! His "I'm doing this for the people back in my hood-Beverly Hills," is a hoot! I hope he sticks around awhile!
I'm impressed with several of them. I think George Hamilton is doing a good job. And you're right, he is a hoot. :)
Jerry Rice seems to be having a ball with it (and doing pretty good). Drew Lachey has really done well but I read today that his wife is a choreographer so he may have a bit of an advantage over the others.
Last season I voted for who I thought was best that particular night but so far I've been voting for those that I thought were in danger of being eliminated before P Miller. Well, all I can say is they aren't going before P Miller if I can help it!
I hope P Miller gets sacked too. He doesn't seem to understand that his "lucky" shoes with their rubber soles are hindering him and won't win him the contest. Anyone who has ever tried to spin around in rubber soles on a dance floor knows you don't get far.
Sorry, Lucy, I live under a rock and don't know anything about Dancing with the Stars, but I noticed you're reading Bet Me. :) I hope you'll blog about what you thought about it when you're done - I'm very curious!
