Okay, so you get a blog...what is acceptable blog material? Is it better to keep the material superficial? Personal? Business oriented? Mix it up?
Blogging is a form of journaling but how personal should it get? For instance, I used to keep a journal but I only wrote when I had something really bothering me that I needed to get off my chest and I addressed my entries to God. Letters to my heavenly Father. I didn't write every day but when I did write, it was because something was bothering me. If anyone read that journal today I think I would come across as very troubled or angry because I was when the entries were written - and that's all they'd see. Nobody wants to read that.
If I blogged that way, well, I wouldn't keep reading a blog that was only venting frustrations so why would I think anyone else would? So, I try to keep the rants (hence the blog name ;-) ) to a minimum (they still get in there occasionally though).
But my question is, what kind of blog (if you have one) do you have (see list above ;-) )? And what kind of blogs do you enjoy more? What turns you off of a blog?
Again, inquiring minds want to know. ;-)

Blog etiquette. :)
So many have offered great advice on blogging and yet none of it comes to mind. Swiss cheese syndrome?
Paperbackwriter (http://pbackwriter.blogspot.com/2005/04/bloglife.html) offered some interesting insight that seems to have stuck with me.
What is comfortable to you about blogging? Hints of your life with the Boys ok or is just all books/writing/etc? Could you develop a routine to follow on what to blog?
You've offered up a great thought. :D
Happy writing.
Hi K!
I think for the most part I blog about things in my personal life, and yeah, the boys are a big part of that. :-)
I try to keep things upbeat and light (although I'm never sure I've carried that off when all is said and WRITTEN) because 1) that's how I want to be and how I want to write; and 2) those are the kinds of blogs I most enjoy reading. Lately though, I haven't been as motivated to keep it up (for a while I was blogging pretty much every day) but I'm having all these "questions" floating in my head that I want answered. Instead of "Ranting and Raving", maybe I should change the name to "What Inquiring Minds Want to Know". LOL
Next up...the meaning of life. LOL
Personally, I like blogs that are upbeat and funny. Or talk about books, movies, that sort of thing. And I love pictures! Strong opinion blogs are great too, as long as they don't turn into rants. I try to keep my own blog as short as possible. Sometimes that doesn't always work, but I do try!
BTW, nice new look, L!
I like funny blogs, pictures, quizzes...heck, love them all! If I'm in a hurry, I sometimes skip past the long posts, just because I don't have time--even if I know they'll be good.
I also like industry blogs that focus on writing and publishing. So, it's nice to have both personal and business blogs to visit.
Yours are always very enjoyable. :)
I checked out that blog K. It has some valid points. Thanks for sharing. :)
Thanks Maria, I kind of like the new look too. :-)
You're so sweet Ellen. (should be receiving that check any day now. ;-) )
I adore the wisdom PBWriter shares. And her books.
You'll find your rhythm, and the name change idea, I like it. :D
Happy writing.
Um. I wanna be entertained. I want to entertain. I share personal tidbits about my life and what's going on in my head. I try to keep it light and upbeat for the most part because that's how I am and what I like to read.
The occasional bitchfest is fine, but if that's all the blog does, no thanks. There's already plenty of negative energy in the world. I don't need more.
I am myself in my blog, just a little toned down. I'm not sure the world is ready for the real me. LOL
However, my blog and my journal are 2 different things. My journal is personal and sometimes full of sad thoughts or angry thoughts or just blah, boring, nothing thoughts. It's a way for me to let out the negative feelings before I go to sleep and it works wonders. I don't want my blog to be that.
This is a long winded way of saying, I read blogs that make me smile and I hope my blog does the same...at least on occasion.
