I know it's been a while since my last post and I have no excuse. I think of things I think will be fun to post about but apparently my follow-through is . . . lacking.
Anyway, I've been having some weird dreams lately. Like the one where I walked in my front door in time to see someone coming in my back door, uninvited, no less. I started screaming hysterically and my viscious, killer-attack lab, jumped into my arms. It must be true about acquiring super-human strength when adrenylin hits because, under normal circumstances, I can't lift my dog, much less hold him in my arms (he weighs 90+ pounds and I have no upper body strength). Meanwhile, the would-be burglar ran up to me and apologized because he'd meant to have my house cleaned out before I returned home, then he promptly ran into my bedroom. I followed him (still screaming) and carrying Max. Apparently I was going to throw Max at him if I came back upon him. I opened the closet door (who knows how since my hands were full) and woke up.
Another dream had to do with Dancing with the Stars. I had the dream Monday night so it was before the final show where the winner was announced. They were at the part where they let the third place person go and announced the top two dancers. I was backstage listening when they announced a shocking twist and announced that I was in the top two! And it was a huge shock because I hadn't danced before but apparently there was a "call-in" vote (like a write in vote but with the phone) and enough of the viewers "called me in" so that they had no choice but to place me in the top two. (It was very overwhelming and unexpected and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that phoned me in. :o) ) The last thing of the dream I remember is hoping I could live up to the expectations when I did the last competitive dance of the season.
Speaking of DWTS, I'm glad Nicole won - she deserved it. And let me just say here that it pisses me off that everyone is saying she had an advantage because she's a dancer. Um, Evan was a dancer too - he just did it on skates!!! I don't think either had an advantage over the other - possibly over some of the other celebrities, but not each other. Oh, and her free style? Did she go the safe route and dance 'her' style? No, she continued outside her comfort zone and she rocked it. Like I said, I'm glad she won, she deserved it!
Moving on . . . I'm thinking of taking a class this summer. It's been a long time since I've taken a class over the summer but I haven't completed a course since last spring (had to withdraw last fall when I went to Arkansas and didn't register this semester because I'd just gotten home when classes started). I'm thinking about taking Astronomy. It starts in a week and a half and runs through the first week of August. Since that conflicts with the RWA conference, I sent the instructor an email asking if it would be a problem if I missed the week of the conference. He responded back effectively saying no and signed his name. It was the first I'd even paid attention to his name. He signed "Dr. Talent". Can I seriously take a class from someone named Dr. Talent? I'm thinking no.
And on the subject of the conference, I'm really torn. We were supposed to be on a vacation freeze through July so I had to get special permission to take the week off. They were reluctant to give me an answer but I forced one from them in January, at which time I made arrangements for my dogs. I want to go because it's the 30th anniversary and I think it'll be good but at the same time, I'm not motivated to go. Meanwhile my bosses still think I will be out that week.
Anyway, that's some of the stuff that's been going on here. How are things with you?

Weird Dreams

I've been having some weird dreams lately. The first one I'm going to share, rather than tell you the dream, I'm going to tell you the conversation I had with a co-worker about it. It went like this:
Me: I had this weird dream last night. I dreamed that I thought someone was trying to kill me.
Her: Oh no!
Me: So I would go to family member's houses to hide out and they would leave the doors and all open and then leave!
Her: I think that means that your family member's doors are open to you, if you need them.
Me: No, no. You don't understand. I would go to my family and say, "I think someone is trying to kill me. Can I hide out here for a while?" They'd say "sure" then open all the doors and windows and then they'd leave.
Her: Oh.
Me. Yeah. I think my family has a hit out on me.
The other dream wasn't quite as straightforward.
I dreamed that I woke up one morning tired (not such a stretch, by any means) and didn't want to go into work (not a stretch in the least). But I was really tired and didn't feel like getting up off the couch to go get ready. I finally decided to call in and say I would be late. It was weird because I was calling the supervisor I had when I was in law. Not only am I not in law anymore (thank goodness!!!!!) but the supervisor I was calling is no longer with the company. Anyway, I was calling in and didn't want to actually talk to my supervisor so I left a message with her assistant. After I'd called in, I was annoyed with myself for saying I'd be in later. After all, I'd just given birth to a baby and I deserved some time off! My family (you know, the ones who in my dreams a few days later put a hit out on my life? yeah those people) was visiting to help me out with the newborn - and apparently the delivery because it comes out in the dream that I gave birth at home. Anyway, I'm annoyed with myself and trying to decide if I should call back and say I won't be in at all that day when I look up at my sister and ask, "How long ago did I give birth?" and she said, "Ten days ago." I hadn't thought it had been that long ago. But then again, the baby I'd just birthed was running (literally) around the coffee table and chasing the dogs - at ten days old. But I was still trying to figure out how to not have to go in to work so I started thinking - out loud - wondering exactly how long I could get off for childbirth. Thing was, I hadn't told anyone I'd just had a baby (apparently nobody had noticed I was pregnant?). So, I decided I'd go to the doctor and get a note. So I called my doctor. Her nurse said she didn't have any openings for weeks (which is very unusual...I can almost always get in the same day) and asked what the issue was. I told her I needed a check up following childbirth and explained that neither me or the baby had seen a doctor since I'd given birth and I was told to come right in and they'd work me in. I was getting everything ready to go to the doctor and thinking about how I would ask for an extended period of time off - with a doctor's note so I'd get paid - when I woke up.
I have no clue what that dream means. Thoughts?
And what about you? Any interesting dreams lately? Or is it just me and Jamie? :o)

Just Stuff
I keep starting posts about what has happened in the last week but for some reason I keep taking them down. Maybe because they feel too personal.
Anyway, the short version is, I called my ex last Monday. I figured if the church was going to send me certified mail/return receipt, I was within my rights to call and see what was going on. After all what was the worst thing that could happen? He could hang up on me and I'd be none the wiser about what was going on. I could handle that.
Funny thing about it was, I talked to SCG beforehand and asked him what his reaction would be if he were my ex. He told me that he would be expecting the call. So, my conversation with my ex started like this:
Him: This is Ex.
Me: Hey Ex, this is Lucy.
Him: Who?
Me: Lucy.
Him: Lucy who?
Yeah, he wasn't expecting my call. LOL
Anyway, in case you all were curious, my ex is getting an annulment to become a Catholic. He's not moving on to another wife but instead, doing this with/for wife #3, who he's been married to going on 10 years - which is a nice thing. We talked for about an hour and it was all very pleasant and nice. It was also, when all was said and done, emotional. Afterwards I felt things I haven't felt in probably 15 years. And it's that stuff that I keep posting and finding too personal to leave up so I'm not going to try to get into it here. No, instead, I'll see if I can amuse you all with the dreams I've had, since last we spoke. :)
Monday night I dreamed I was on the Bachelor. It wasn't as fun as my last dream of being on the Bachelor because I wasn't handing out roses - I was hoping to get one. My ex-husband was in the dream but I don't specifically recall what role he played. I also don't recall Angelina being in the dream but she probably was my competition. ;) Anyway, it was down to only a couple of us when I woke up. However, since Tuesday's dream was that the ex and I were getting married, I think he probably was the Bachelor and that he kicked ol' Angie to the curb. hehehe
Last night's dream had nothing to do with the previous dreams (that I recall anyway) but rather had to do with the migraine I've had since Monday night. It's gotten so much better but I still have that sensitivity to light and it's making me crazy at this point. So, in the dream, I went to the doctor to see if there was anything she could do about it. I was going in for migraines and somehow or another I was trying to locate all my clothes to put back on after the exam. I had several outfits with me (how long did I think I was going to be at the doctor's for an exam anyway???) but none of them with the pants that fit (note to self: MUST lose weight!!!). And, every five minutes, someone else called me at the doctor's office. I felt like no one believed I was really sick and going to the doctor so they were calling the doctor to check up on me - and everyone seemed surprised to find I was actually there! I was standing there talking to my sister with jeans that wouldn't go over my hips when I woke up.
So tell me, do I even want to know what these dreams mean? LOL

Interesting dreams
I've been having some interesting dreams lately. I think my favorite (of late anyway) came Monday night, after I'd watched The Bachelorette. Now, I have to point out that I've never watched this show in the past. One of my best friends in the whole world loves it and wants to talk about it all the time so I kind of follow what's happening without actually seeing a second of the show. She knows I don't get the show and don't understand the appeal of it but we're good enough friends that we can both respect each other's opinions on things like this.
Anyway, for some reason or another I decided to watch this season of the show. I watched the first one and all the while I was thinking to myself "I so don't get this show". Then I called my friend the next day and told her that...again (she hears it from me all the time). But, I did decide after that first show that I was going to watch the season. You know, kind of like that train wreck that you have to stop and stare at. You don't really understand why you have to do it but you just can't not do it. That's kind of how it is.
So, about the dream. I had just finished watching Monday night's show when I went to bed. In my dream, I was the Bachelorette. And for those that have never seen it (including this season) DeAnna has been handing out roses to the guys. These past two weeks she's given three roses out before the rose ceremony. If they get a rose before the rose ceremony, they know they're safe - they're not going home that week. The first week was "first impression" roses. I'm not sure what the second week roses were about. I don't know if this is how it works every season or not but that's how it's working this season.
But anyway, so I'm the Bachelorette and I have roses to hand out. Only I don't have red roses like DeAnna has been passing out. I have black roses that I'm handing out. And those roses go to the men that I don't like. They don't have to wait for the rose ceremony to find out that they're history - they have to leave then. lol
I told SCG (secret crush guy) about the dream the next day and he said he totally could see me doing that. Said that would be a fun version to watch. lol
Anyway, that was my dream and I found it kind of amusing - but then I'm easily amused. ;)

Because Alyssa Asked
Alyssa said she wanted to hear about my dreams about the man in the picture from our Bosses' Day Celebration, so I'm going to tell you. I just want to point out though that this type of post is the reason that few people know about this blog because, this isn't something I would tell everyone. And, in fact, it may be necessary for me to enter the blog-relocation-program after I post this, but I'm going to do it anyway. Because I was asked to. ;-)
Okay, the first dream I had about him (his name is Tom) occurred right after our department's audit had been cancelled, shortly after the first of the year. We were both on the audit team (along with the man who is sitting a bit away from the table...Richard). We learned a lot along the way and we were all doing so much and it was a very busy time. And then we were told it was cancelled - postponed actually, but cancelled for then. Richard kept saying we'd have a celebratory lunch and stuff. He talked about awards and roasts (he's good at that sort of thing). I thought there would be some sort of recognition and if there was, I wasn't included in it. But in any event, that's the backstory for this dream...
In the dream, we were having our celebratory luncheon, only we had to organize it and set it up ourselves. We were setting up the tables...they were gorgeous with nice table cloths and great center pieces. Then I saw this oversized set of teeth in the middle of the table. You know, kind of like the joke teeth that have a wind-up key you use to make them chatter? Only they didn't have the wind-up key. And they were really standing out on the otherwise elegant table. I muttered something to myself like "what the heck are those" and went to grab them off the table. Tom yells at me to leave them alone...they're his! I was stunned and couldn't believe he'd want them on the table and said so. Then he pointed out that they were an exact replica of his own teeth and then he smiled. And they were. And he thought it was some kind of award and was very proud of them. And then I woke up.
That's the dream that I've told everyone at work and they all got a kick out of it (but think I have weird dreams). It's the other dream that my force the relocation thing...
I haven't told this dream to a single, solitary person. But for some reason, I have less of a problem posting it on a public blog. What does that say about me? Wait, don't answer that!
The back-up to this dream is that Tom's office is across the hall from mine, a couple of offices down. If you walk straight out his office door, you're standing at the water cooler. That's it. That's the whole set up.
Okay.
So, in the dream, I was walking out of my office for some reason. At the same time, Tom was walking out of his office with some lady. They stood next to the water cooler and talked for a few minutes. But, while they stood there talking, Tom's pants fell down and either he doesn't wear underwear or else they fell down too because he was...exposed. And I was mesmerized. I was just staring. Stunned. And wondering why no one else seemed to notice that his pants are around his ankles and he's just dangling there. Literally. I couldn't move. I just stood there, looking...there. The two of them continued to talk and suddenly he wasn't "dangling" so much anymore, if you know what I mean. Then he was dangling less and less...and less, until there wasn't anything dangling about him. And my gaze never waivered. And they both still seemed oblivious. I was basically drooling, because, at least in my dreams, he's very well-endowed. I'm just saying. Anyway, that was basically the whole dream and I woke up with a start and was embarrassed. I could barely face him for a couple of weeks after that. But, the thing that really got me was, the very next day, I was walking to my office after lunch and as I approached my office, he stepped out of his office...with some woman. And they stopped to talk beside the water cooler. I swear, I froze in place, unable to move. I probably stood there in the same place for thirty seconds...just staring. Unfortunately that's where any resemblance to my dream ended. His pants stayed up and any images of his "endowment" have only been seen in my dreams. But at least there is that. ;-)
Okay, so there you go. Those are the dreams I've had about this man.
