I started on the hard liquor before he started talking but aside from that, that's EXACTLY how my date went. The sad thing is, I'm not even kidding.
So, no romantic connection is in the future for us but hey, I won't count out that we might go out as friends again. Oh, and P.S. Today is his birthday.

Well that's no good. Except that you reconnected with a friend--that part's nice. Maybe. Clearly he has a sense of humor.
Reconnecting with an old friend, even if it didn't go down the path yo wished, might still be a good thing.
How's the writing?
Here's the way I see it... you had a feeling this wasn't going to be 'it'. If not, that hard liquor wouldn't have hit your lips before his words hit his. So... a 'friend' connection with a guy you weren't exactly sure about isn't such a bad thing. And who knows... maybe he's got cute brothers or friends who all think he's in need of a personality overhaul! Hey! Stop laughing. It's possible.
